AgapeFest is nearly here, which means Greenville will be swarmed by happy, eager fans. Its kind of amazing if you step back an think about it. In just two days a large fairground is transformed into two great venues. The staff seems to be pretty great this year. Having Joel helps them I am sure. My attitude towards my own involvement in AgapeFest varies constantly. One of the reasons I came to Greenville was to take over the festival, well to be very involved in it at least. But ever since my first year I feel less and less connected, oh well. This year my involvement is limited to WGRN’s live broadcast, which is going to be fun. My wonderful staff people are going to be great, we have some great band interviews, and giveaways planned.
Speaking of music festivals, Joel and I are going to the Pitchfork this summer, just for the Saturday. Vampire Weekend and Jarvis Cocker are both playing that day, and those two alone are worth the price of the tickets. (We got ours yesterday!) The festival is in Chicago so we are going to make a little mini holiday of it with a trip to Ikea and such. I am looking forward to this summer. Last summer we spent the whole time working on our sweltering house and taking showers at the sports annex, not a lot of fun. But this summer we get to go to Europe and Chicago and having time to read will be nice. Joel passed on Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell to me and I love it.
