waysideviolet - cozy, lovely things

the snow looked like glitter

This weekend we:

  • *had a coffee date.
  • *saw Defiance (such an “oh, my goodness!” good/heartbreaking movie).
  • *slept in and then played with Cors.
  • *made gumbo!
  • *had dinner with Micah and Steph and played with Micah’s kitten.
  • *worked on exciting projects.
  • *got a powdered sugar dusting of snow.

And now we are having an evening of book reading.  Joel’s reading The Meaning of Night.  I hope he finishes it soon, because it looks rather wonderful and can’t wait to read it myself!  Right now I’m reading Tipperary by Frank Delaney.  Delaney is an enchanting writer.  Here is the beginning of Tipperary:

Be careful about me.  Be careful about my country and my people and how we tell our history.  We Irish prefer embroideries to plain cloth.  If we are challenged about this tendency, we will deny it and say grimly:  “We have much to remember.”

Isn’t that lovely?
