Q. Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Lori is what everyone calls me- I’ve never met more than one Lori in my life so I figure I must be extra special. Maybe that’s because I still live in the same small town of 17,000 I grew up in. I call Idaho my home, but friends think my heart belongs in a bigger city. I am raising 4 intelligent, good-looking, above average children with my helpful, handy, handsome husband. Their ages range from 14 to 4. Crazy. I know. How do I do it- and work as well? I’m still trying to figure it out myself. In time I know I’ll look back and say – “Wow, that was hectic- and I don’t remember a thing!”

Q.When did you begin making accessories?
I began making accessories over a year ago when I was feeling a little blue from the slumping economy. I took it rather personally since my husband was – and I stress – WAS – pretty heavy into construction. Remember in the last paragraph how I said I live in a small town? I couldn’t find any colorful things to put in my hair, or put around my neck. I needed color to make me feel happy, so I made it. And I labeled dupioni silk as the fabric of choice in my studio.

Q.Your shop is so lovely and glamorous! What is your creative process like?

Gush, why thank you! The creative process starts with color. Always. I’m really influenced by the effect that color plays on people. I spend a small fortune on fashion magazines so that I’m always one up on color combinations and style- not just today, but a year from now.

Q. What’s a normal day in your life like?
Normal? That’s just a setting on the washing machine!
Workout, get myself gorgeous, kids to school, computer work, orders, phone calls, pick up toddler from preschool, kids, dinner, clean up, bedtime, and DREAM DREAM DREAM of great ideas. I never run out of them… If I only had the time to make them all!

Q. What inspires you most of all?
EVENTS! You must have an event! Everywhere you go is for a reason! What will you wear? How much attention do you want to draw to yourself- are you comfortable with people staring at you? I guess I like attention. (No I’m not a messed up adult. I just like to look and feel pretty, and I know you do too!)

I must add that my two daughters ages 12 and 11 are really fun to decorate. The other day Madison was wearing a really cute electric blue and white striped sweater and she said “Mom, I don’t have anything to match this…” and I said- “Wait just a minute-” I stepped into my studio, pulled the strips of electric dupioni silk off the dowel shelf and put together a brand new design that looked just fabulous!
When she came home I asked- “What kind of feedback did you get?”  That’s how I test my products! The more birthday party invites- the more popular my products are in Middle School!

What a fun interview! It must be so much fun for your daughters to have such a creative and fashion forward mom. ^_^

    Wow.

Only in my dreams would I own something so beautiful. In a childless, colorful, dream.

I’d love to wear something of hers to my husbands company christmas party this year. It would really dress up a plain outfit. I’m hearting the shop for later. Everything is so gorgeous.

Its a toss up between my favorite items. I really like the VERA Brasage- the colors are excellent. I don’t usually wear things on my wrists though, so umm, my other favorite is the LEXIE bib necklace. So gorgeous. Seriously, what an amazing shop.

Her shop is fabulous – everything is so lovely, which makes it even harder for me to choose (and those color combinations doesn’t make it any easier)
I have to say.. “Feona loves vanilla exclusive hairpiece”… the name just did it for me, and a girl can’t have enough hairbands in her wardrobe!

I have had a crafty -crush on Lori’s shop forever. The Savahnna statement bib necklace is one of my current favorite pieces. I see others trying to copy her style now and then, but they NEVER measure up. The piece worn by Joy Behar on The View is also spectacular.
