I came across White Owl quite by accident while window shopping on Etsy and I am so glad I did! Courtney and Christina make the most gorgeous jewelry! I’m in love their lace necklaces!
Q. Could you tell us a little about yourselves?
Courtney- To start, you probably guessed that Christina and I are sisters! As for me, I am an independent filmmaker and I teach film and audio at a local college. I also occasionally curate screenings of local films around town. And of course I make jewelry, too! Christina’s background is in commercial photography and styling, but nowadays, mostly she is the girl handling the day to day business of White Owl.
Q. When did you begin making jewelry ?
Courtney & Christina – Actually, we have been making jewelry, modifying clothes and tons of other things off and on for ourselves for years, but we only really started making and selling jewelry to other people last year.
Q. Your shop is so glamorous! What is your creative process like? Do you usually work together on projects?
Courtney & Christina – Thanks for the compliment! Well, we collaborate a little on some ideas, but we usually make our jewelry independently- we like a lot of the same things, so our styles mesh well on their own without too much planning. We do ask each other for opinions, though!
Q. What’s a normal day in your life like?
Courtney- On a typical day I go off to teach at the college for most of the day , then afterward I might visit my boyfriend Sean, go out with friends or work on more White Owl jewelry with Christina!
Christina- For me a typical day might be packing orders, checking out flea markets and resale shops for new treasures, making new items and then some time for hanging out with my husband or friends. Usually we have a big photo shoot day once every week or so as well.

Q. What inspires you most of all?
Courtney- It is hard to say what inspires me most- I get my inspiration from a lot of places. During the course of a day I might, see, hear or read something interesting that could later become the basis of a film idea or a piece of jewelry! Inspiration can come from anywhere, I think.
Christina- I totally agree! I also often get my inspiration from the materials I am working with though- sometimes pieces just seem to go together in a certain way.

my fave is the lucia lace garden necklace.. such a delicate piece!
and as usual.. great giveaway.. thanks for introducing them :)
Oh my goodness, that lace collar is fantastic!
My favorite from the shop is the la paon sequined necklace, but it would get completely lost in my chest tattoos (that always happens when I wear any kind of necklace, unless its the exact perfect length, which of course it never is), so I’ll change my mind, go with something darker, and say my favorite is tryphena.
Another beautiful shop that I could easily blow an entire paycheck in.
The lacy teardrop earrings are gorgeous as well <3

I love the Yvette necklace. The little offset flower and pearl give it a nice touch. I think everything in the shop is interesting and beautiful. It was hard to pick one to comment on.
