Hey there! I’m Alli and I’ve been asked by our wonderful Jessica to do a little guest blog on here about what I want for Christmas. I thought and thought about the topic and how I wanted to go about it, and it struck me. All I’ve heard for weeks now is, “Where’s your Christmas list?” and “I have no idea what to get you. What do you want for Christmas?” Along with a couple of, “I’m not going to get you anything if you don’t tell me now what you want!” This year is the first time that I actually had to sit down and think about making a list. Usually I can pop one out in .578 seconds (thanks to Etsy). But nowadays it seems to be a little more difficult to put my finger on what I want.
I’ve recently started working at a retail store this past holiday season and I’ve never seen such angry, mean, and impatient people in my entire life. After listening to a customer complain for over 40 mins about how I was ruining her Christmas it hit me: All I want for Christmas is the simplicity of childhood. I want everyone to slow down, take a moment, and spend some quality time with their families instead of some quality time shopping for their families. I want to have game night, drink eggnog, listen to Christmas classics, and wear horrible sweaters. I miss the days when holidays were about getting together instead of being busy and spending too much money. I miss everyone setting time apart to put up the Christmas tree and lights. So for that one person that you can’t seem to find the perfect gift for, stop for a moment and spend some time with them. Or get them a gift that includes some quality time together. Go bowling, ice skating, play in the snow, and bake cookies. Because years from now, when they look back they will remember the day the spent with you much more than they gift you bought.
BUT, for those of you looking for a present here’s a couple of amazing little stores that I love. Enjoy!
