Husband and wife duo, Mates of State, are one of my all time favorite warm weather bands. Their music makes me want to throw all the windows open and have a party! They have a brand new covers album, called Crushes (the covers mixtape)-cutest name ever!- coming out this summer. And right now you can download the first track for free over here!
I’ve gotten to see them at an outdoor indie festival in Cincinnati and at an overcrowded little club in St. Louis. They always put on a fun and energetic show. It sounds like they’ll be touring a lot this summer, if you get a chance, go see them!

Oh how I love me some Mates of State! Last summer I listened to Rearrange Us on repeat almost exclusively. Such an interesting sound to their stuff.
They sound a lot like Tilly and the Wall. You should check them out if you like them. ‘Beat Control’ is amaazing. :)
