Last weekend during trips to and from the hardware store for container garden supplies we kept catching NPR interviews with Janelle Monáe and reviews of her new album. Those little snippets were so intriguing that Joel walked right in the house and bought The ArchAndroid. I’m so glad he did! It has to be one of the most exciting albums I’ve heard in ages. I love it!
Now, stay with me, The ArchAndroid is a concept album about an android who travels back in time to save the world. Oh and it’s based on Janelle’s dreams! It sounds a little crazy, but she’s made it into one of the most danceable, beautiful, genre-defying albums maybe ever. There’s even a track featuring Of Montreal! I’ve been sitting here trying to find a good way to describe Janelle Monáe and her music and I think it might be better if I just show you:
