waysideviolet - cozy, lovely things

I just realized I never showed you any photos from our crazy whirlwind/awesome road trip we took a few weeks ago! We left Chicago at 2am last saturday and drove through the city. It was funny to see it without its usual traffic. The sun came up in Indiana and we got to Cleveland around 10am and met up with friends at Lucky’s Cafe. If you’re ever in Cleveland go there, you will be all kinds of happy!

The conversation and food was wonderful! The only photos I have of Cleveland are from my little Fuji Instax but they look better in person.

We got to Rochester just in time to get cleaned up and go to the bachelor and baccalaureate parties. We girls went to the sweetest cafe called Magnolia’s. (I had the most amazing tomato, artichoke and parmesan soup!) The next day we went exploring and record shopping and then went to our friends’, Micah & Steph’s, wedding. They got married at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and all of the buildings look like they belong in Oxford. It was gorgeous!

We were pretty much sleep deprived by this point…

I took about two dozen photos of the beautiful windows. I loved the thick glass and the dark grids and the random panes of colored glass placed here and there.

The ceremony was lovely and elegant and very Steph.

Monday was our drive home day so it started with some…

We did a little checking and found out that stopping by Niagara Falls would only add about 30 minutes of driving to our trip so we went!

It was a seriously beautiful day!

“I see Canada!”

This was Carli, Joel and Mathew’s first time to Niagara so we took a lot of photos. I can’t wait to see how the Kiev shots turned out!

It was a loooong weekend of driving but catching up with friends and pretty flowers and blue skies in Ohio (and a few skeins of yarn!) helped pass the time.
