A few years ago, I saw an amazing garden in an issue of ReadyMade. (I need to go through my old issues and see if I can find the actual photo.) I think it was planted in the courtyard of a Spanish style ranch somewhere in New Mexico; it was a full on riot of rocks and desert-y plants and happy colors and made me appreciate plants I usually don’t think twice about. It was perfect! I love all the different colors and textures of the cacti and succulents, gorgeous!
I’m daydreaming of having a little patio covered in pretty stones, succulents and cacti with pretty lanterns and an indigo blue bench for reading. My grandma always had a huge clay pot of hen and chicks on her back porch and I remember being kind of in awe of the tiny “chick” plants.
If you don’t have much space right now Apartment Therapy has a great article about creating a pretty succulent garden in a narrow place. Cute!
