We went to see Inception Friday night and it’s a great movie, but that’s not what this post is about. This post is about a commercial. I’m sure you seen/read/been surprised by the Levi’s Go Forth campaign. That marketing camping mostly makes me want to run outside and discover new-to-me places and I never mind them interrupting my brief bouts of tv watching. I read somewhere that some of the Go Forth commercials were actually played at Cannes Film Festival. They are pretty, but I kind of thought, “really? Cannes?”
So this weekend, when I saw the new commercial, Frontiers, in the darkened pre-movie quiet of the theater on Friday night, I thought, “Okay, this does make sense.”
I still think that the spots do more to sell adventure and getting your hands dirty and making something rather than jeans, but I’m not too ashamed to say I kind of love them.
Halfway through the commercial something clicked and I remembered a ReadyMade article that I had read a year or two ago about the new life and good things that are happening in Braddock, PA (the actual town featured in the commercial.) Not to sound cheesy, but it is a neat and true story you can read it for yourself over here.
