waysideviolet - cozy, lovely things

fall inspirations

A few days ago Elsie wrote about how she loves seeing how much fall inspires so many people. I was probably nodding in agreement the whole time I was reading her post. I’ve been on a bookmarking, planning, painting, sketching kick lately and I think it’s mostly because of all the lovely bloggers who are making beautiful things and taking such gorgeous photos!

So today I made a big ol’ post with a whole bunch of the pretty things that are inspiring me these days. I hope it will be a little creative nudge for you too!

Cozy places and warm colors: plums, rich browns, and little bits of orange and red.

Soft light from afternoon sunshine and textures like silk, wool, and rough wood.

Stacks of books, the shapes of stems and flowers, and glitters of gold and silver.

I love this wonderful post, inspired by Hemingway, from Little Brown Pen all about eschewing digital distractions for the joys of reading. You should check it out for your own enjoyment, but here’s a lovely quote,

“…[I] have run back into the arms of an old lover: books. Glorious, lovely, real-life, actual, sniff-the-pages books.”

A Moveable Feast

Fall always gets me feeling bookish! But that’s not to say that there isn’t inspiration to be found in a common Youtube video.  Ok Go’s new video involves Ikea and well behaved pups. It is, of course, genius!

I’ve felt my wanderlust for adventures in new places quite a bit lately and Kara’s link to a breathtaking New York apartment that overlooks Central Park, has me daydreaming of days spent weaving a novel on a shockingly red typewriter and evenings of hosting glittering parties!

You must check out the rest of the gorgeous photos over here!

I hope this post isn’t too overwhelming!

A Movable Feast is one of my favorites. That is a lovely quote. And, though it’s 90 degrees in Chicago today, I’m looking forward to when it gets chilly so I can cuddle up under a blanket and read, too!
