waysideviolet - cozy, lovely things

for the love of coffee

I had no idea that today was National Coffee Day until I saw Nicole’s pretty post, but I like it! I was thinking about all the good memories I have from high school and college. A lot of them involve afternoons spent in book/coffee shops with good conversation, evenings in the cozy campus coffee shop playing board games with random people or making new friends. I might have done a little homework too, but for some reason my memory hasn’t held onto too many of the late night paper writing sessions.

As much as I love an espresso drink snatched on the go, I love the ritual of making coffee each morning even more: grinding the beans while Cors stretches lazily and then runs off to find his ball, measuring the water, adding just enough creamer. It isn’t really breakfast without a nice, warm mug of coffee.

morning coffee

In Greenville, we lived close enough to walk home for lunch and lunch always meant coffee in the cozy afternoon sunshine, usually with a chapter or two of a good book.

I hope you’re having a great day and maybe enjoying a cup or two of your favorite drink.  I’m hoping to maybe collect a one pump hazelnut breve (I know so bad for me, but it tastes so good!) latte from my local coffee shop.

PS. I love this cute coffee ad!
