I am a complete sucker for British period dramas. A truly perfect rainy day (for me) might look a little like: morning coffee and Bright Star, an afternoon viewing of Brideshead Revisited, knitting and five hours of Pride & Prejudice, and maybe squeezing in an episode or two of a gorgeous BBC series like Downton Abbey.
Okay, if old-fashion British drama isn’t your thing, you might want to stop reading because I’m going to rave about Downton Abbey now. I just finished the first series this weekend and my mind is still filled with the large house and storyline.
The series follows both sets of Downton Abbey’s occupants, those upstairs:
and down…
set during pre-World War I England, a time of changing fashions, new inventions, and sensational ideas. It’s very interesting and the writing is often funny. It sucked me right in! Like any Brit period drama worth its smelling salts, the costumes are brilliant, too!
I am so glad that it’s been renewed for a second season. I’m hoping to see more of two of my favorite characters, Lady Sybil and Branson!
Now to wait around for 2012!

I just finished the season last night! I discovered it on Instant Netflix and FELL IN LOVE!!!
The next season isn’t coming out until 2012!?! BULLSHIT! I want more now! hehe
it’s really killing me, the wait for the new season.
