Even though we’ve been here for a year I feel like I’m just starting to get to know this interesting place called Chicago. One of my goals this summer is to have way more explorations and adventures. I keep coming across super cool things that are made in Chicago and I thought I’d share a two today.
Field Notes
Joel was surprised me with a three pack of the graph paper notebooks from Field Notes a few weeks ago. I love the graph paper. It’s great for sketching out knitting pattern ideas! For $9.99 you get three notebooks and everything you need to dry transfer your own title. I finally got around to trying mine out this weekend.
They made this helpful and kind of quirky video about how the transfer works.
I put a modified version of my favorite line from Downton Abbey, “She reads far too many novels.” on one. The kerning could be a little better but it’s not too shabby for a first try I think. I have a feeling this is going to be a new addiction. They also come in pretty pretty colors!
Newport Coffee House
I visit Newport at least two or three times a week for a latte because they have the best coffee ever! I’m serious. They roast their own beans on the spot in small batches and I’ve never had such fresh and good coffee!
Thank goodness my work isn’t too far away, because a hazelnut breve latte is the perfect afternoon treat. For home, I usually get the Java Estate whole bean or the Yemen Mocha when we’re feeling a little more spendy. Mmm, there’s nothing like a good cup of coffee!
