I just wanted to get in a quick, albeit late, “Happy Thanksgiving!” to all of my American pals. For a lot of people today (Black Friday) means lines and crowds and spending lots of money at the mall. Sure it’s fun to do once or twice, but I think that buying handmade and local is just so much more rewarding.
There are lots of good reasons for handmade and plenty of folks have written about their reasons for supporting independent artists better than I could. For me, the best thing is the love that’s put into each piece handmade item. You can learn a little more about the Handmade Pledge here.
But instead of shopping, I spent this black Friday hanging out with family, going on walks with the pups, hanging Christmas lights, and baking favorite Christmas treats. Between you and me, I’m really looking forward to Christmas!
