I snapped up a bunch of strawberries on my last trip to the market. And yesterday, I finally got around to making them into strawberry shortcake. It’s so simple I thought I’d share how to make the sauce today. It’s perfect for strawberry shortcake but it would also be nice on ice cream.
You’ll need: a heap of strawberries and three table spoons of sugar.
Wash your strawberries and pat them dry. Cut off the leafy bits and then slice medium to thin. I like mine more on the medium side.
Sprinkle on the sugar and give it all a good stir. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. You’ll end up with a lovely sauce with lots of nice strawberry bites.
I used this recipe again for the shortcake and it really is a winner. Probably because it’s so simple!
