It’s cloudy here and our home is so cozy it seems like the perfect “inside” day. Here are some pretty, lovely things that I’ve come across lately. First up, the new Toast catalogue, so beautiful!

I saw Sara’s beautiful Paws on the Etsy front page one day and promptly fell in love. They’re so lovely and fairytale like I had to check out the rest of her shop!

Sara and her creations

Q. Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello! My name is Sara, I now live in Montreal with my beloved husband but was born and raised in the countryside. I did my BFA majoring in studio arts and photography, and since last year I am taking jewelry classes. I love to cook, garden, listen to music and play drums.

Q. How did you begin making such pretty things?
I’ve always been a creative person, loving to learn new techniques and to experiment as well. I started knitting and making jewelry when I was just a kid. These hobbies turned out to be real passions. At the beginning I was just assembling pieces together, until this no longer satisfied me artistically. So I started experimenting and creating pieces from raw material. I’ve learned a lot both by myself and through great teachers, which allowed me to progress from hobbyist to having a real personal artistic direction. When I discovered Etsy in 2007, I felt like I had found my creative outlet and here I am now, making a living out of it.

Thanks to Nylon’s twitter I found out that Burberry was streaming its Fall 2010 show yesterday. I sat by my computer in anticipation. I was so excited! I love Burberry for their British cool and the show did not disappoint! Beautiful coats and gorgeous colors! I couldn’t take my eyes off of one coat in particular (maybe the buttons hypnotized me) and I had to build an outfit around it!

This is our crazy moving week.  It was so sad to pack up our little house and leave it all alone, but we’re excited about our new city!  Here are some pretty things that are keeping my spirits up…

Pretty flowers like tulips, irises, and violets. I can almost smell spring!

Yummy pastries, especially bear claws.  Almonds?  Flakey pastry?  I’m there!

A few weeks ago I came across the prettiest little lockets with sweet messages like Know that you are loved”.  Perfect for Valentine’s Day, don’t you think?  I am so excited that their creator, Amy from Tuesday Afternoon Tea, is today’s interviewee!  And Amy has even offered the most adorable giveaway package!

Q. Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello! My name is Amy, I’m 25 years old and I live in a little village in the North of England. I have a BSc and an MA in Sociology from the University of Manchester, but recently I went back to college to indulge my real passion and did a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. I work part time in an art gallery, and use the rest of my time to make things I love and sell them through my Etsy store.

I think Valentine’s Day is such a nice time to send a little love and even a little treat to the special people in our lives. Here are two little gift guides I put together, one for him and one for her:

I saw this pretty Down the Rabbit Hole watch and just had to build an outfit around it! I think soon we’ll be seeing lots of different takes on Alice in Wonderland.

perfect for a fancy tea party

tweed dress by adhesif, watch by sadie olive, and necklace by fox and clover

Tweed always seems a bit fall-ish to me, but it also makes me think of the outdoors and after so many winter days inside, a little outdoorsiness sounds kind of nice.

What a productive weekend!  I finished up a batch of slouchy hats and cozies for City Bird.  City Bird is this wonderful shop in Detroit that I would LOVE to visit some day.  It looks so lovely!

February with its pink hearts and red roses is just around the corner.  I don’t mind the cheerful colors, we’re in the middle of a wet winter here, but I don’t really like modern Valentines.  Thankfully there are so many beautiful options these days!

Message in a bottle letter service by Miniature Rhino

Miniature Rhino offers an adorable Message in a Bottle Letter Service. Your message is typed on to vintage paper using a vintage typewriter.  The little note is sealed with red wax and the final touch is a twine tied copper key hand stamped with a custom monogram. I love this!

Regency Valentine with Swallows by Hello Handmade

Hello Handmade has created the most beautiful Valentines I’ve seen in ages! These are perfect for the Jane Austen romantic in your life. Each valentine features swallows-which have been off – set printed and then watercolored by hand in persimmon and a gorgeously subtle silver – as well as a personalized, customizable note penned with jet-black sumi ink in uniquely romantic calligraphy. Lovely!

Warning this post might make you dream of sugarplums! Because The Cupcake Mint is probably one of the most delicious shop on Etsy. I especially love all the Christmasy sweets that Shannon has in the shop right now!
