winter evenings

I’m just going to write this and hope I don’t jinx myself. This semester is going SO well! There I said it. I’ve been getting all of my work done throughout the week and only have small projects for the weekend. Most gloriously of all I feel like I’m learning something. Maybe because I’ve been [...]

around here lately

The house is clean and quiet. Cors is napping after a walk in the park to chase the squirrels. It’s been a crazy week that felt longer than normal so this little pause is extra nice. Here are some things that I’ve been doing between the busy times: Reading Kinfolk Vol. Two,

January 26, 2012 cinnamon rolls

recipe: better than anything cinnamon rolls

Last Sunday night, the hot water heater gave up the ghost. It was old and cranky. Having no hot water made me cold and cranky. The natural thing to do seemed to be to make cinnamon rolls. Warm, delicious cinnamon rolls. I used Paula’s recipe because when it comes to comfort food, her recipes have [...]

snow day, again

Last friday we got another big helping of snow. Lots of snow. Tons of snow! Work let us out early and we went straight home and got Cors ready for some fun. He loves snow! I love seeing him hope around like a bunny in it. Joel made a little video of the frolic:

snow days

Thursday morning the snow came and it has been snowing off and on ever since. We have a nice thick blanket of the stuff and Cors and I keep making little excursions to jump around in the thick banks the wind pushes together. Cors loves the snow! I love any excuse for getting cozy inside [...]

wednesday loves: bits of christmas

Please excuse this week’s Wednesday Love for being extra homebody-ish, but it’s been a terrifically lazy week around here. We’ve had a few trips to the movies (I still want to see The Artist, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Tin Tin), knitting projects, lots of reading, and lots and lots of cups of Newport Coffee’s amazing [...]

two christmas recipes

There are so many must makes for this time of year and I thought I’d share two of my favorite Christmas recipes today. Hopfully you aren’t in too much of a sugar coma from the sweets that the holidays bring! The first recipe, well, I don’t have a good name for it. Growing up we [...]

happy christmas

Yesterday, was Christmas and it was a truly wonderful day. We got up not too early and I made coffee and Joel read the Christmas story and Cors sniffed at the presents that smelled like rawhide bones and tasty treats. We didn’t have a white Christmas but we had lovely soft lights and a nice [...]

a merry christmastime

I hope you have been enjoying a wonderful holiday with friends and family! This year (for the first time since we got married) Joel and I had Christmas at home. It’s always wonderful to see family, but I have to admit that this holiday at home was just what we needed. After a long crazy-busy, [...]

a real christmas tree

This weekend was a mash-up of  frantically finishing up projects and finals, decking the halls, a sushi date, a sink overflowing with used coffee cups, carpet cleaning chaos, and a Christmas tree. Our very first real-live Christmas tree. I love it! We bought it off of a pair of adorable Boy Scouts and brought it [...]
