August 11, 2011 Nail How To

a summer time manicure

I’m having a bit of a girl’s night in tonight and that means chocolate chip cookies, BBC period movies, and of course, nail polish! I wanted to get a little fancy so I pulled out some colors that I thought looked nice together and experimented. I came up with a gold tipped French manicure and [...]

summer eats

Mmm, summer tastes good! I’ve been making lots of vegetarian meals lately and they just seem so fresh and perfect for this early summer season. Tonight I made salad and the yummiest potatoes. I almost had my plate cleaned before I remembered to take a photo! How to Make These Delicious Potatoes You’ll need: butter, [...]

April 10, 2011 salad

summertime

We got a gorgeous taste of summer this weekend! Saturday I transplanted a bunch of my cute little seedlings (the cilantro is growing like crazy!) into larger planters and picked up this violet cineraria senetti to dress up the front porch. They’re the perfect in-between of blue and purple. Today we had a little impromptu BBQ with [...]

August 8, 2009 happy weekend

happy weekend

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend filled with your favorite things! It has been horribly humid and warm here the last few days, and I can’t help but look forward to fall with its crisp nights and foggy mornings, bright leaves and expectation of harvest.  I’ve been working extra hard on the winter knits [...]

July 1, 2009 in the garden

in the garden

We’ve had some delightfully cooler days this week and I’ve found myself drawn more and more to the outdoors.  Today, after some plant watering and weed pulling, I took the camera for a little wander around the garden. I found this little fellow in the middle of our side yard. I scanned my flower seed [...]

July 29, 2008 Horsefly July Update

Horsefly July Update

The air is warm, like a damp blanket taken too early from the dryer.  It seems like Greenville is holding its breath, waiting for cold weather and a thousand of its youngest residents to return.  The days are long but enjoyably.  I’ve been working on the library and I like the progress we are making.  [...]

May 19, 2008 done, next.

done, next.

Classes and graduation are over. Sunday before (graduation) we bought flowers and tomatoes plants which we are going to pot tonight. They are lovely: Today I started my summer job.  I like it.  I do all kinds of officey things.  Right now I feel tired and ready for a break, at least we have flowers!

May 7, 2008 Paste

Paste

I had planned not to write any more posts until after finals are over (May 14th!). But as I sat at the table drinking coffee and listening to Joel read reviews out of the new copy of Paste that arrived today, it felt so much like a wet summer day (we woke up to a [...]

April 30, 2008 AgapeFork

AgapeFork

AgapeFest is nearly here, which means Greenville will be swarmed by happy, eager fans. Its kind of amazing if you step back an think about it. In just two days a large fairground is transformed into two great venues. The staff seems to be pretty great this year. Having Joel helps them I am sure. [...]

April 27, 2008 its not so much the weather as it is the classes

its not so much the weather as it is the classes

I am ready for summer, or rather I am ready for the semester to be over. I have one large project, a few small things, and a stupid medium size project. I want summer to hurry up and get here, not for the warmer weather (summer in Greenville brings stifling mugginess) but for a break [...]
