weekend adventures

So what have I been doing while the blog was quiet last week? I was having a long weekend of adventures!

Thursday, Joel’s birthday, was filled with exploring different part of Chicago that we had never seen before. After presents and coffee we drove down to the city to the Museum of Science and Industry. It’s one of those hands on kid friendly museums which isn’t normally our scene but we had some fun. I love the facade of the building.

I liked the old things, a compass from the maritime display and black and white photos of Queen Elizabeth II and a pink phone. Our favorite exhibit was the Wired Smart house. I want to live there so we’ve been playing around with floor plans.

Even though we’ve been here for a year I feel like I’m just starting to get to know this interesting place called Chicago.  One of my goals this summer is to have way more explorations and adventures. renegade craft fair chicago

This morning I got up early and went downtown to my very first Renegade Craft Fair with my friend Abby! She’s a native Chicagoan and I am super grateful for her navigation skills. We hopped on the Metra and took it down to Union Station, then a short ride on the L, and there we were in Wicker Park!

It was a drizzly morning but everyone seemed to be having a good time.  It was like a handmade party! And it was so neat to see things in person that I’d only seen on Etsy and to meet the sweet folks that make them.

We got some exciting news last week…Joel was offered a job in Chicago and we’ll be moving up there in about two weeks!  We’re driving up again this week and hopefully finding our new home.  So exciting!
