There’s nothing quite like the feeling of a brand new lip balm/eye shadow/you can fill in the blank with your favorite beauty item. This week’s (belated) Favorites post is all about things for that wonderful “new beautifying things” feeling.
I picked out a bunch of lovely things, perfect for filling stockings of making a little beauty kit:
1) Beautiful Pouch by Scout & Catalogue 2) Tiny Locket by The Vamoose 3) Lollia Hand Cream Mini 4) The Perfect Red Nail Polish by Butter London 5) Argan Oil and Wildflower Palette by Josie Maran 6) Pomegranate Kit by Burt’s Bees 7) Nail Kit via Sephora 8) Lulu Organic Hair Powder
favorites: cards and things
I really like today’s Favorites gift guide, because it includes some of my favorite Etsy shops and because it means I can talk about my Christmas card drama. I had myself convinced that I could make my own cards. I’ve made them every year for years, but this year was busy. “That’s okay!” my inner positivity told me. “You can do it! Plus it’s fun! You like making them.”
I’ve learned this year that my positivity could drive me crazy if I let. I broke down and I bought my Christmas cards. They are gorgeous and I love them!
I went with posts cards from Rifle Paper Co. in the Happy Holidays and Noel designs. The little monogram notes in the upper right-hand corner are from In Haus Press and they are the perfect size for little gift tags or stocking stuffers.
I also threw in a few fun mailing accessories like this return address stamp and golden heart stickers and dotted washi tape for sealing envelops. Time to get writing!
favorites: for the boys
‘Tis the season for gift guides and there have already been lots and lots of good ones this year! I’ve posted about Es’s stunning (I mean it is seriously GORGEOUS!) Gifting Magazine and I love Grace’s shopping-free gift giving post, but I still wanted to do a little series of gift idea posts. So here’s what I’m going to do, for the next few Fridays I’ll have themed guides, but this year I’m only going to feature shops and brands I’ve actually purchased. I’m quite excited about sharing some of my favorite makers, independent stores, and pretty wonderful finds with you!
Today we’re starting with the often ignored guys. The guys on my list can be tricky to buy for, but I think most bfs and brothers and friends would like these things:
You can’t go wrong with a cozy flannel shirt by Bridge & Burn, Chicago made notebooks by Field Notes that come in lots of different colors and paper types, and melt in your mouth Smoked Salt Caramels by Fran’s Chocolates. These caramels are so good you’ll definitely want to sneak a few for yourself!
This manly, enamel cup by Best Made Company is perfect for drinking black coffee while reading The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox. Last but not least, I think this German Medic Bag from Four Corner Store would be pretty great for carting around all this Christmas swag.
