simple strawberry sauce
I snapped up a bunch of strawberries on my last trip to the market. And yesterday, I finally got around to making them into strawberry shortcake. It’s so simple I thought I’d share how to make the sauce today. It’s perfect for strawberry shortcake but it would also be nice on ice cream.
You’ll need: a heap of strawberries and three table spoons of sugar.
Wash your strawberries and pat them dry. Cut off the leafy bits and then slice medium to thin. I like mine more on the medium side.
Sprinkle on the sugar and give it all a good stir. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. You’ll end up with a lovely sauce with lots of nice strawberry bites.
I used this recipe again for the shortcake and it really is a winner. Probably because it’s so simple!
to make and to do
This week I’m keeping my To Make and To Do lists pretty simple. I have a whole bunch of goals for the summer so here’s to ticking off two more!
I’m making time to read books. I used to read just for fun all the time in high school and college, but this past year I haven’t read nearly enough. Normally I prefer anything to a Brontë novel, but I’ve had Shirley by Charlotte sitting on my bookshelf since 2003 so I thought it was high time to give it a shot.
So far Shirley is satisfying my “I want to read a story!” mood, but mostly it makes me want to re-read Middlemarch.
